Sunday School

During the school year, four youth classes meet:

Sixth grade confirmation class

This class spends September through May studying the history and doctrines of the United Methodist Church. They participate in activities that encourage team building and personal growth in faith as they move toward the goal of making the commitment to join the church on Confirmation Sunday.

Seventh/Eighth grade co-ed class

Classes for boys and girls use interactive bible-based lessons with creative learning activities.

9th/10th grade co-ed and 11th/12th grade co-ed

Teams provide consistent presence and nurture as well as support for other teachers.

During the summer months, there are two class assemblies: one for mid-highs and one for senior highs. A breakfast assembly is held on the second Sunday of each month for the youth during the school year, and for all youth during the summer.

Youth in Worship

Youth participate and are invited to serve as Acolytes, Torchbearers, Crucifers, and Lay readers during the Sunday worship services. Opportunities are also available to serve as a Praise Band member or as a youth Choir member.

Salkehatchie Summer Service

Youth ages 14 and up are encouraged to spend a week in service to our Lord and the needy. Over the summer, youth from all over the state of South Carolina gather in different areas to serve the needy by repairing substandard housing. These camps allow the youth to build new relationships with youth from all over the state, unify the United Methodist Church as we come together in service, and to give our youth a first-hand look at what it means to sacrifice ourselves for the service of others.

 Basketball for youth

A Christian basketball league is co-ordinated by our Leisure Ministries Council and youth program. All youth who participate in Grace programs are eligible to play. Teams also compete in the South Carolina Methodist Tournament.
