The Church Council

This Council is made up of the chairpersons of each of the major councils and committees in the church, the chair of the Child Development Center, church staff members serving in lead roles, the Senior and Associate Pastors, the lay leader and six to eight members-at-large from the congregation. Meetings are scheduled on the Tuesday following the second Sunday of the following months: January, March, May, July, September, and November. The Chair is John McKibbin. Staff Parish Relations Committee

This committee’s job is to relate to the staff, appointed leadership as well as employed lay leadership, and also to relate to the parish or congregation. The SPRC works as a team within the congregation to interpret the church’s mission and vision with several individuals and groups including the ministers and all ordained leaders appointed by the bishop, the lay staff, the congregation, the local community, the district superintendent, the United Methodist Connectional Church. The Chair of this committee is Mark Phifer.

Stewardship Committee

This committee’s responsibility is “To serve Jesus Christ by ministering and teaching principles of  Christian stewardship to help form our church into one that reflects God’s generous character.”  The committee guides the church membership in understanding the importance of being faithful stewards in all aspects of their Christian life. The Chair is Eric Holgate.

Board of Trustees

This committee consists of nine members who serve three-year terms; three members are selected each year based on the recommendations of the Committee on Lay Leadership. Regular meetings are bi-monthly. The Board supervises and maintains all property belonging to the congregation to facilitate the effectiveness of the ministries of Grace UMC. The Chair is Kevin Scaggs and the vice chair is Ron Matthews.

Finance Committee

The job of this committee is to identify, perfect, and manage the finance system for the congregation. The finance system is the processes of raising, managing, and dispersing the finances so that the mission and vision of the congregation can be achieved. The Chair is Don Miller.

Lay Members to Annual Conference

This committee is called to connect the visions and plans of our congregations and our annual conference. The Chair is Jim Fernstrom.

Children’s Council

The mission of this council is to develop and implement programs to help children grow in their relationship to Jesus Christ. The primary task is to help children on their journey as disciples of Jesus Christ. The co-chairs are Nikki Moore and Natalie Lee.

Education Committee

This committee is responsible for the church’s development and support of spiritual education for Grace’s Sunday School classes, including the creation of Spiritual Objectives for the Preschool, Elementary and Youth Sunday School Classes. The committee also provides a supportive and/or training role for ChristCare groups, Bible studies, Grace’s Community College events as well as the BLAST program. The committee is supportive of the development of special programs and resources for Grace’s membership, visitors and outreach efforts. The Committee also provides supportive education roles for other committees in realizing the Church’s strategic objectives. The purpose of the Education Committee is to meet the educational needs of the Church, its membership and spiritual education outreach efforts.   The Chair is Kathy Bradley. Commission on Missions Committee

This committee supports missions enthusiastically with their prayers, their concern, their time and their service and inspires an awareness of and educates the congregation about the missions outreach in our church. This great fellowship of mission leaders is a vital link in the chain of God’s mission, which extends around the world from the distant past into the future. The Chair is David Blevins. 

Committee on Lay Leadership

This committee is charged with providing a suggested slate of church officers for adoption at the annual Charge Conference in the fall. The committee comprises three yearly rotating classes with three persons in each class. The church Lay Leader, Mark Phifer, is a member of the committee. In addition to the annual Charge Conference report, the committee may provide other nominations when requested.

Leisure Ministry Council

This council plans and coordinates recreational and fellowship activities for the church. Our big fundraiser is the Wild Game Dinner. Many of our church members prepare foods that you normally do not see at your local restaurants and there is also a silent auction. Watch for details on this exciting event in the fall/winter. The Chair is Michael Deen.

Youth Council

The job of the this council is to promote the development of a comprehensive approach to youth ministry in the church.  This council seeks resources for understanding and direction in it’s ministries with youth. The Chair is Mark Fowley.

Worship Committee

This committee works to seek out the mission of the church by offering settings for vital worship in which people experience the presence of God and grow in the knowledge of God. The Chair is Diana Roy.

Witness/Evangelism Committee

The job of this committee involves reaching out to people with the good news of Jesus Christ, welcoming them with genuine Christian hospitality so that they may develop a relationship with God and live as Christian disciples. The Chair is Frances Redmond.
