SUNDAY SCHOOL Lessons guide us on our faith journey! During the school year, five Youth classes meet: Sixth grade Confirmation classThis class spends September through May studying the history and doctrines of the United Methodist Church. They participate in activities that encourage team building and personal growth in faith as they move toward the goal of making the commitment to join the church on Confirmation Sunday. The leaders are Suzanne Rudisill, Mark Phifer and Julie Hendrick. The Historian is Tita Fauerby. Seventh/eighth grade classSeparate classes for boys and girls use interactive bible-based lessons with creative learning activities. The leaders for the girls are Jim & Linda Dollar, Cathy Moseley, and Helen Campbell. The leaders for the boys are Mike Outlaw and Will Barnes. Senior HighsTeams provide consistent presence and nurture as well as support for other teachers. The 9th/10th grade leaders are Joanne Watson and Linda Broome. The leaders for the 11th/12th grade are David & Cindy Parler, Wendall Mayson and Byron Neely. During the summer months, there are two class assemblies: one for mid-highs and one for senior highs. A breakfast assembly is held on the second Sunday of each month for 9th-12th grades during the school year, and for all Youth during the summer. Youth Service & Outreach... Salkehatchie Summer Service Salkehatchie Service Youth 14 and older can spend a week meeting youth from throughout South Carolina, repairing substandard housing for the poor of our state, and building new relationships. R.O.C.K. Stars(Reaching Out in Christian Kindness) on Saturdays volunteering at Golden Harvest Food Bank, Interfaith Hospitality Network, CMONA, by visiting homebound members, and by participating in Mission Work Days. G.R.I.T.S.* BRING YOUR FRIENDS! Breakfast and devotional for senior highs. All area 9th-12th grade students are invited to meet before school for prayer, a devotional, and a delicious breakfast in the Fellowship Hall. WHEN: 1st and 3rd Thursdays each month during the school year. TIME: 7:00 a.m. Start the day off right with… *God’s Reminders to Inspire Teen Students Worship Leaders Youth participate and are invited to serve as Acolytes, Torchbearers, Crucifers, and Lay readers during the Sunday worship services. Conference events Throughout the year, youth are offered special opportunities to meet other young people from our state at special programs and events offered by our General Conference. Watch the bulletin for details on how to meet other young people from throughout the state at Conference Council on Youth Ministries events. Basketball A Christian Basketball League is coordinated by our Leisure Ministries Council and youth program. All youth who participate in Grace programs are eligible. Teams also compete in the South Carolina Methodist tournament. |
