Wesley Singers

The Wesley Singers is offered to children who are enrolled in grades 2-5. The choir provides children with the opportunity to sing regularly in worship. In addition to learning about music reading, choristers study hymns and anthems that support vocal development for children.
 
Grace Singers

The Grace Singers is offered to youth who are enrolled in grades 6-12. The choir sings each month at the 11:00 a.m. worship service. A wide range of choral music is used to introduce singers to the varied styles of sacred music. Part-singing and emphasis on developing a choral sound is taught while preparing youth for transition into college and adult choral settings.
 
 
Chancel Choir,
Wayne Lord, director
The Chancel Choir is the principal choir for the 11:00 a.m. worship service. In addition to weekly worship responsibilities, the Chancel Choir participates in additional services throughout the liturgical year. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Handbells
 
Wesley Ringers
Wesley Ringers is a beginning bell choir that uses choir chimes. Basic (elementary) music reading skills are required, and a short-term commitment is expected of ringers.
 
Bells of Grace
Bells of Grace is a beginning bell choir that introduces handbell techniques. Intermediate music reading skills are required, and a commitment to rehearsals is expected of ringers. Youth and adults are invited to participate in this bell choir.
 
Chancel Bells
The Chancel Bells is a handbell choir open to youth and adults. Advanced music reading skills are re-quired. A rehearsal schedule will be established based upon interest and commitment of youth and adults to weekly rehearsals.
 
 
Church School Pianists
Pianists to assist church school classes are regularly needed. Ability to play hymns in a style that supports group singing and sight-reading ability are helpful skills.
 
Instrumentalists
Instrumentalists are often needed to assist with anthems or to provide solo music for the voluntary or
offertory. Interested individuals should contact the Director of Music.
 
Choir Helpers
Adults who can assist with children’s choir rehearsals are appreciated. Tasks such as assisting with robing, helping with choir activities, and supporting the teaching environment

a good beginning never ends

Through age-appropriate group lessons, Kindermusik allows infants, preschoolers, and young children to explore rhythm, melody, listening, movement, and playing simple instruments. Preregistration is held twice a year. There are 15 classes per semester. Parents/guardians pay a semester fee that covers the cost of home materials and instruments. Scholarships are available to assist with the cost of materials when needed. Complete information concerning Kindermusik sessions is available from the church office. Teachers in the Kindermusik program are have completed specialized training and are licensed by Kindermusik. Fall 2009 classes begin the week of August 16 and continue through the end of November. There are still limited spaces available. Winter 2010 semester will begin in early January and continue through the end of April with registration beginning in November 2009. Fees usually run $80-$85 per semester which includes required At Home Materials. Most classes meet in room 206 of the Asbury Building.
