Children’s Sunday School

Classes for children grades one through five are located on the top floor of the Asbury Building and are taught by loving and dedicated volunteers. Elementary Sunday School classes begin with lively music and Grow, Proclaim, Serve Video. Lessons nourish and enrich the faith of children and teach them how to proclaim the good news of God’s love. It also shows them how to reach out to others. Children also participate in mission projects. During the Sunday school year, each class explores scriptures, creeds and sacraments to help children grow in their faith development. Guidelines are:

  • 1st Grade: The Lord’s Prayer and Meaning of Communion
  • 2nd Grade: The Apostles and Meaning of Baptism
  • 3rd Grade: 23rd Psalm and Book of the Bible
  • 4th Grade: Apostle’s Creed
  • 5th Grade: Ten Commandments and Leading a Christian Life

Children’s Bulletins

Be sure to ask an usher each Sunday for these bulletins filled with activities for children based on scriptures. There are separate bulletins published for children ages 3-6 and children ages 7-12. They may also be found in the children’s worship bags hanging on racks. Bags are used each week and returned so they may be replenished. Wednesday Nights following WINGS

12 weeks of Bible Lessons based on your favorite cereals. The commercials always tell us that cereal is “part of a complete breakfast.” This series will show kids how unlike cereal, Jesus is all we need to have a complete and joy- filled life. Kids 4K through 5th grade, join us in the 3rd grade Sunday School class each week at 6:15 as we enjoy a bowl of cereal and explore 12 stories about Jesus from the Gospels. There will be a nursery for younger children. If you would be able to assist with this class on Wednesday nights, please contact Allison at



Children and youth 4th grade and older learn to read basic guitar chords and share songs at local nursing homes and at special events. Meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:15. David Lusk teaches beginners. Beverly Blevins teaches those with prior experience.

Nursery Ministries

Loving and caring volunteers are needed to assist our nursery staff in serving as caregivers for children, infant through three years of age during the Sunday worship services. Please contact Allison Outlaw or a member of our nursery staff to volunteer your time in this area.

Seasonal Programs

Children’s Sunday

Children ages 3-5th grade will have the opportunity to serve as worship leaders on this special Sunday, May 1, 2016. Children will witness their faith through scriptures, prayers, special readings, and songs.


Cookies with Santa

December 6th, 4-6 pm, Wesley Center. Children enjoy hot chocolate and cookies and participate in activities reinforcing the true meaning of the Christmas season as they await their special visit and photograph with Santa.

 Easter Egg Hunt, March 25, 2016

This program is for toddlers through the 2nd grade. Eggs are already hidden on the church grounds This family event includes crafts, juice & cookies, and a surprise visitor. For more information, contact  Allison Outlaw.

Easter Butterfly Release, March 27, 2016

II Corinthians 5:17 tells us, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.” During the Lenten season children are given caterpillars and witness the amazing transformation that takes place, symbolic of Christ’s resurrection from death. Children return chrysalises to the church and place them in butterfly boxes. Butterflies are released on Easter at a church-wide celebration of Christ’s triumph over death.

Pockets for Children

This monthly magazine for children is filled with puzzles, games and stories. Magazines may be picked up on the top floor of the Asbury Building at the end of the hallway.


Vacation Bible School

Mark your calendars for June 20-24, 2016! Children who have completed 3 year preschool through 5th grade enjoy an action packed week  filled with Bible stories, crafts, music, recreation, outreach projects and much, much more!
