Family Foundations Class

The Family Foundations Class is a very active class! We have an array of members, some who are married, and others who are single, divorced or widowed, with ages ranging from the forties to the sixties. Together we support one another and our families as members of the family of Christ, with care and with prayer, through the best and worst of times. Our class is deeply involved in missions, handling leadership roles in the annual Bolivia Mission Trip, Honduras Mission Trip, and the Bolivia Golf Tournaments. Our class members serve in many areas of the church’s programs and the community, and can always be counted on to give with heart. Our teachers are members of our class, and our lessons involve lively discussions through Cokesbury Studies, Max Lucado, and Adam Hamilton (to name a few) as we learn and grow closer to Christ. We also enjoy several socials throughout the year and share fellowship, food and fun together. Our class is time-tested and is still growing and changing, and we join with one another in faith as we study the Word of God and seek ways to put into practice His Love and Light in our daily lives as we strive to “Know Christ and Make His Love Known.” Our door is always open to visitors and new members!

Roundtable Class

The Roundtable Class selects lessons from a variety of contemporary publications that have Christian growth as their theme. This class of older adults is composed of singles and couples. Class attendance averages 10 persons. Members participate in all phases of church life. The food drive for the Community Ministry has been a long-time project and is well supported. Our logo, or class emblem, was designed by a class member and truly represents this class. The emblem is symbolic of our Christian faith and the values of the Roundtable class. The circle of the table signifies the unbroken friendship and support we give one another. It also indicates that our class enjoys fellowship and discussions in which everyone participates. The crown symbolizes Christ as the ruler of our lives. The dove represents the Holy Spirit, and the Bible is the beginning of all our understanding. The open door symbolizes Christ’s invitation to all and our own openness to new people and fresh ideas. The fish in the center represents the Trinity–the basis of our Christian faith. New members are welcome!

It’s Just a Phase

An intentional gathering of adults with the purpose of helping one another navigate the journey of marriage and parenthood. Right now, our gathering is a twenty-something and thirty-something age group, but all are welcome. Our goal is to find friendship, deepen our faith in Jesus, and encourage one another as we aim to raise children who will grow and find deep faith of their own. Class topics and discussions are not limited to the topic of parenting or raising children. We gather first and foremost as disciples of Jesus who aim to love Jesus Christ and to make His love known. We do not have all of the answers but we are committed to learning and supporting one another through diving into scripture and praying for one another. If you are not part of a Sunday school community at Grace, we would love to have you join us this Sunday!

Seekers Class

Since 1977, the Seekers class has been an integral part of the Grace Family.  Our Sunday School lessons vary from week to week and focus on group discussion of how our faith, the Bible and Methodist beliefs relate to our everyday lives, the problems and challenges of today’s world. We are singles and married couples  primarily 50s and 60s but no stringent requirements. Some of us are dealing with children issues, grandchildren issues, parent issues and yes, our own issues. Mission projects include support of Epworth Children’s Home, Bolivian and Honduras missions, aid to needy families, Community Ministries of North Augusta, the Cumbee Center, the Ronald McDonald House and participation in Return to Bethlehem.

Wesley Class

The Wesley Sunday School class is composed of members in their 40’s and 50’s, both single and married, and with children and without children. We study the Bible, current topics and books by contemporary authors such as Lee Strobel, Rick Warren, Max Lucado, Phillip Yancey, and C.S. Lewis. Teachers are volunteers from the class. The class and their families enjoy meeting for quarterly activities, spending the day at the church lake site, staffing the bakery for the church’s Return to Bethlehem production at Christmas, and helping with the contemporary service. We also enjoy an annual Christmas pot-luck dinner. The class loves to welcome new members. The class meets downstairs in the Wesley building at 10:00 a.m.

Journey Class

Our group is maturing into a 30-something group composed of mostly young couples with and without kids, but we welcome anyone in the young adult category to join us. With a focus of ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, we encourage each other through all the new adventures and phases of the journey of life we are sharing together. Members share and rotate teaching responsibilities, encourage group discussions, and have guest speakers. Members participate in mission projects and community outreach such as Salkehatchie, the F3 organization, and children’s ministry. The class is responsible for the Angel Tree project and shares responsibility for the Chrismon Tree with the Cokesbury class. We also fellowship together outside the Sunday School hour with oyster roasts, cookouts, and lake days. Class meets in the study to the right at the entrance to the Wesley Building.
